Regular Season Round 25: Chalons-Reims - Strasbourg 58-79

Date: March 31, 2017
Not a big story in a game when 12th ranked Chalons-Reims (9-16) was outplayed at home by sixth ranked Strasbourg IG (16-9) 79-58 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Strasbourg IG. Chalons-Reims managed to win second period 17-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The former international guard Paul Lacombe (195-90, agency: BeoBasket) stepped up and scored 12 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals for the winners and the former international forward Jeremy Leloup (202-87) chipped in 15 points. At the losing side American swingman Mark Payne (203-88, college: Cal-Davis) responded with 9 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and Dutch center Nicolas de-Jong (210-88) scored 15 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Strasbourg IG have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Paris-Levallois. Loser Chalons-Reims dropped to the thirteenth position with 16 games lost. They share it with Cholet and Hyeres-Toulon. Strasbourg IG will meet at home Paris-Levallois (#5) in the next round. Chalons-Reims will play against the league's second-placed Chalon/Saor (#2) and hope to secure a win.
