No shocking result in a game when twelfth ranked Denain Voltaire (12-13) defeated on the road 14th ranked Saint Chamond (10-15) 75-69 on Friday. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 8-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 75-69. Power forward Jerome Cazenobe (203-89) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and guard Pierric Poupet (192-84) chipped in 13 points and 9 assists. Denain Voltaire's coach Jean-Christophe Prat allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side power forward Jean-Stephane Rinna (205-83) responded with 9 points and 7 rebounds and American guard BA Walker (184-84, college: VCU, agency: Inception Sports) scored 7 points and 7 assists. Denain Voltaire moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Nantes. Loser Saint Chamond keeps the fourteenth position with 15 games lost. They share it with Roanne and Maurienne. Denain Voltaire will meet at home Aix-Maurienne (#16) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Saint Chamond will play against Lille Metropole and hope to secure a win.
