Very expected game when 10th ranked Sangiorgese (12-15) was defeated on the road by sixth ranked Valsesia (15-11) 76-62 on Sunday. Valsesia outrebounded Sangiorgese 50-30 including a 37-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. Sangiorgese was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for forward Giovanni Lenti (196-96) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 19 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Guard Jacopo Mercante (192-90) helped adding 19 points and 7 rebounds. The best for the losing side was guard Simone Tomasini (196-93) with 20 points and power forward Alessandro Priuli (200-86, agency: Players Group) scored 8 points and 7 rebounds. Valsesia moved-up to fourth place in B. Loser Sangiorgese dropped to the ninth position with 15 games lost. Valsesia will face Domodossola (#16) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Sangiorgese will play against Varese Robur (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
