Regular Season Round 27: Burgos - Zarautz Ulacia 67-61

Everything went according to plan when tenth ranked Burgos (10-14) won against at home 13th ranked Zarautz Ulacia (6-18) 67-61 on Saturday. Burgos forced 22 Zarautz Ulacia turnovers. It was a great shooting night for Burgos especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. Zarautz Ulacia was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was British guard Jules Akodo (188-96) who scored 23 points and 4 steals. American center Julien Sargent (211-91, college: Mobile, AL) chipped in 7 points and 12 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Xabier Osa (196-86) who recorded 9 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Julen Egana (190-96) added 16 points respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Burgos moved-up to eighth place in Group A-A, which they share with Muro Basquet and Valle de Egues. Loser Zarautz Ulacia dropped to the fourteenth position with 18 games lost. Burgos will face Mondragon (#13) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Zarautz Ulacia will play against Pielagos and hope to win that game.
