Regular Season Round 27: Ardoi - Mondragon 82-66

Very expected game in Zizur Mayor where 12th ranked Mondragon (7-18) was defeated by fifth ranked Ardoi (17-7) 82-66 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Ardoi. Mondragon was better in third quarter 13-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ardoi dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Mondragon's 20. They outrebounded Mondragon 54-40 including a 40-29 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was naturalized Ukrainian forward Anton Savitski (196-86) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Guard Ignacio Urtasun (187-80) chipped in 22 points. Four Ardoi players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Mikel Arejolaleiba (185-90) who recorded 9 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and power forward Benat Barberena (204-89) added 14 points respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Ardoi moved-up to third place in Group A-A, which they share with Santurtzi and Easo. Mondragon lost ninth consecutive game. They dropped to the thirteenth position with 18 games lost. Ardoi will face Santurtzi (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Mondragon will play against Burgos (#10) and hope to win that game.
