Regular Season Round 27: Calidus Gal.COB - Gijon 75-73

Very expected game in Ourense where 10th ranked Gijon (9-15) was edged by third ranked Calidus Gal.COB (16-7) 75-73 on Saturday. However just two-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Gijon won third quarter 24-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was forward Cristian Iglesias (198-94) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds. Forward Xabier Arriaga (202-97, agency: Dynamics Global Management) chipped in 18 points. Calidus Gal.COB's coach Juan Norat used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was American center Brian Stone (203-94, college: Malone) who recorded 20 points and forward Dani Gonzalez (202-84) added 11 points respectively. Calidus Gal.COB have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to second place in Group A-B. Loser Gijon keeps the tenth position with 15 games lost. Calidus Gal.COB will face Naron (#7) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Gijon will play against La Fecha and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
