Regular Season Round 25: PAOK - Koroivos 75-66

Very expected game in Thessaloniki where 11th ranked Koroivos (7-18) was defeated by fifth ranked PAOK (14-11) 75-66. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 20-7. But Koroivos won third quarter 25-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. PAOK dominated on the defensive end, holding Koroivos to just 7 points in first quarter. 25 personal fouls committed by Koroivos helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a very good performance for Latvian swingman Zanis Peiners (203-90) who helped to win the game recording 14 points and 9 rebounds. Power forward Vangelis Margaritis (203-82) contributed with 12 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. PAOK's coach Soulis Markopoulos allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American guard Eric McClellan (193-93, college: Gonzaga) answered with 19 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import forward Devonta Pollard (203-94, college: Houston) added 11 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Koroivos. PAOK moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Aris. Koroivos lost their fifth game in a row. They dropped to the twelfth position with 18 games lost. PAOK's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Panathinaikos in Athens and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Koroivos will play at home against Promitheas (#9) and hope to win that game.
