Very predictable result when ninth ranked Leyma Basquet (18-13) won against on the road 14th ranked CB Prat (11-20) 81-76 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 40-32 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Leyma Basquet dominated down low during the game scoring 40 of its points in the paint compared to CB Prat's 20. It was a great shooting night for Leyma Basquet especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Zach Monaghan (188-92, college: Minn.St.-Mankato, agency: Duran International) who led the winners and scored 18 points and 5 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). His fellow American import guard Justin Johnson (188-88, college: Concordia Irvine) accounted for 20 points for the winning side. Johnson is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Xabier Lopez (198-97) came up with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and Pep Ortega (201-84) added 20 points respectively for CB Prat in the defeat. Four CB Prat players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Leyma Basquet moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Ourense and Melilla. Loser CB Prat keeps the fourteenth position with 20 games lost. They share it with FC Barcelona II. Leyma Basquet will meet at home Castello (#13) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. CB Prat will play against Marin and hope to secure a win.
