Regular Season Round 25: Cactus Tbilisi - Sokhumi 88-66

Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Tbilisi: Cactus Tbilisi (#4) and Sokhumi (#5). Cactus Tbilisi (11-14) crushed visiting Sokhumi (9-16) by 22 points 88-66. The game without a history. Cactus Tbilisi led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Cactus Tbilisi had a 31-14 advantage in offensive rebounds. American center John Florveus (211-90, college: Georgia) nailed a double-double by scoring 16 points and 15 rebounds for the winning side and his fellow American import guard Terik Bridgeman (198, college: William Pater.) accounted for 16 points and 11 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Five Cactus Tbilisi players scored in double figures. American guard Dwayne Lathan (190-89, college: Indiana St.) came up with 19 points and 5 rebounds and Otari Buliava (202-94) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Sokhumi in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Cactus Tbilisi have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 11-14 record. Sokhumi lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth position with 16 games lost. They share it with Batumi. Cactus Tbilisi's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena Dinamo Tbilisi.
