Regular Season Round 25: Dinamo Tbilisi - Mgzavrebi 58-70

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Dinamo Tbilisi (23-2) at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by eighth ranked Mgzavrebi (8-17) 70-58. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Dinamo Tbilisi. The game was mostly controlled by Mgzavrebi. Dinamo Tbilisi managed to win second period 12-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American guard Darnell Taylor (193-91, college: CS San Marcos) stepped up and scored 18 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and his fellow American import center Reggie Murphy (208-91, college: Henderson St.) chipped in 15 points and 9 rebounds. Taylor is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Mgzavrebi players scored in double figures. At the losing side the former international Mikheil Berishvili (204-87) responded with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 14 rebounds and the former international Mikheil Tchotchua (193-87, agency: Octagon Europe) scored 13 points and 6 rebounds. Mgzavrebi maintains eighth place with 8-17 record. Dinamo Tbilisi at the other side still keeps top position with two games lost. Mgzavrebi are looking forward to face higher ranked Energy Invest (#3) in Rustavi in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Dinamo Tbilisi's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi Cactus Tbilisi.
