Regular Season Round 26: Scandone AV - MIA-RO Cantu 92-86
Date: April 9, 2017
Very predictable result when third ranked Scandone AV (16-10) won against 13th ranked AV Cantu (10-16) in Avellino 92-86. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. After very bad start, AV Cantu stormed back in the second period cutting the deficit to 3 points 41-38. But it was not enough and Scandone AV took back the control in second half. They shot the lights out from three nailing 18 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. Scandone AV players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by AV Cantu's players. The best player for the winners was American-Liberian point guard Joe Ragland (182-89, college: Wichita St.) who scored 33 points (!!!). American-Polish guard David Logan (185-82, college: Indianapolis) chipped in 22 points and 4 assists. Four Scandone AV players scored in double figures. American point guard Zabian Dowdell (191-84, college: Virginia Tech, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) produced 24 points and his fellow American import power forward JaJuan Johnson (208-89, college: Purdue) added 17 points respectively for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Scandone AV maintains third position with 16-10 record having five points less than leader EA7 Armani. AV Cantu lost third consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth place with 16 games lost. Scandone AV's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Vanoli Cremona (#16) at home which should be an easy win for them. AV Cantu will play against The Flexx PT and hope to win that game.
