Regular Season Round 11: Toros - Marinos 115-88
Date: April 11, 2017
We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams in Maracay where fifth ranked Toros (5-13) outleveled 4th placed Marinos (6-10) 115-88 on Tuesday. The game without a history. Toros led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They shot 63.4 percent from the field. Toros forced 19 Marinos turnovers. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. Toros looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Marinos' players. It was a great evening for American-Peruvian point guard Kyle Fuller (185-92, college: Vanderbilt) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 11 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). International guard Elder Gimenez (186-91) helped adding 20 points and 4 assists. The former international power forward Hector Romero (202-80, college: New Orleans) responded with 16 points and the former international swingman Rafael Perez (193-82, agency: Paris Global Sports) scored 11 points and 6 rebounds. Four Toros and five Marinos players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Toros maintains fifth place with 5-13 record. Marinos lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with ten games lost. Toros will face league's second-placed Bucaneros in La Guaira in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Marinos will play at home against Gigantes and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
