Regular Season Round 11: Gigantes - Guaros 83-92

There was a minor upset in Puerto Ordaz where 3rd placed Gigantes (10-10) were defeated by third ranked Guaros (10-8) 92-83 on Wednesday. It was a great evening for international point guard Heissler Guillent (186-86) who led his team to a victory scoring 16 points and 7 assists. American Lazar Hayward (225-86, college: Marquette) helped adding 19 points and 5 rebounds. Guaros' coach Jorge Arrieta used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. The former international forward Axiers Sucre (199-78) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds and American guard Ricky Tarrant (188-93, college: Memphis) scored 18 points and 5 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Five Guaros and four Gigantes players scored in double figures. Guaros have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion maintains third place with 10-8 record having eight points less than leader Guaiqueries which they share with defeated Gigantes. Gigantes lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the third position with ten games lost. Guaros will face league's leader Guaiqueries in Porlamar in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Gigantes will play on the road against Marinos in Puerto La Cruz and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
