Regular Season Round 31: Siauliai - P.Zvaigzdes 98-87

Bottom-ranked Siauliai managed to get a fifth victory on Wednesday night. This time they won against seventh-ranked P.Zvaigzdes 98-87. The game was mostly controlled by Siauliai. P.Zvaigzdes managed to win second period 28-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Siauliai looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of swingman Tomas Lekunas (201-93) who helped to win the game recording 23 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Forward Donatas Sabeckis (197-92) contributed with 19 points, 6 assists and 5 steals (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!) for the winners. The former international power forward Egidijus Dimsa (204-85) answered with 20 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and naturalized Canadian point guard Evaldas Zabas (188-88) added 21 points in the effort for P.Zvaigzdes. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. P.Zvaigzdes' coach Ramunas Cvirka rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Siauliai maintains tenth place with 5-26 record. P.Zvaigzdes at the other side keeps the seventh position with 18 games lost. Siauliai are looking forward to face higher ranked Nevezis (#9) in Kedainiai in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. P.Zvaigzdes will play at home against Vytautas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
