Regular Season Round 26: Akademik PL - Beroe 64-85

An interesting game for Beroe (15-8) which played road game in Plovdiv against second-ranked Academik Plovdiv (16-7). Third ranked Beroe had an easy win 85-64. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Academik Plovdiv. Beroe made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Academik Plovdiv 41-24 including a 28-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Beroe made 8 blocks. American guard Shane Gibson (188-90, college: Sacred Heart) orchestrated the victory by scoring 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Croatian power forward Stjepan Tesija (206-89) contributed with 16 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Beroe players scored in double figures. Beroe's coach Ljubomir Minchev felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. French-American forward Jordan Semple (201-92, college: Chico St., agency: Octagon Europe) replied with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds and 5 blocks and American point guard Oscar Bellfield (187-90, college: UNLV) added 20 points in the effort for Academik Plovdiv. Beroe maintains third position with 15-8 record having six points less than leader Lukoil Acad. Academik Plovdiv at the other side keeps the second place with seven games lost. Beroe are looking forward to face Balkan (#5) in Botevgrad in the next round. Academik Plovdiv will play at home against Rilski and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
