Regular Season Round 29: Campli - Giulianova 83-79

Everything went according to plan when fifth ranked Campli (19-7) defeated at home 11th ranked Giulianova (10-18) 83-79 on Saturday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Campli had a 29-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. Giulianova was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Point guard Riccardo Bottioni (190-93) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Power forward Riziero Ponziani (204-94) contributed with 16 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Campli's coach Piero Millina used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Point guard Antonello Ricci (190-92, agency: Octagon Europe) answered with 17 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Simone Colonnelli (185-91) added 20 points (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) in the effort for Giulianova. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Campli moved-up to fourth place in B. Loser Giulianova dropped to the twelfth position with 18 games lost. Campli will face Pescara (#5) on the road in the next round. Giulianova will play against Rimini (#9) and hope to win that game.
