Regular Season Round 33: Gries/Oberhoffen - Orchies 80-62

An interesting game took place in Bischwiller where higher ranked Orchesien BC (19-14) was upset on the court of twelfth ranked Gries/Oberhoffen (16-17) 80-62. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Orchesien BC. It looked good early as Orchesien BC took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Gries/Oberhoffen had a 17-14 second period charge getting the lead and Orchesien BC was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 62-80. Gries/Oberhoffen dominated on the defensive end, holding Orchesien BC to just 6 points in third quarter. They outrebounded Orchesien BC 42-31 including 31 on the defensive glass. Gries/Oberhoffen players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Orchesien BC's players. It was a good game for Ahmed Doumbia (195-89) who led his team to a victory with 22 points. Swingman Glenn Duro (193-88) contributed with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Four Gries/Oberhoffen players scored in double figures. American Marquise Simmons (203-89, college: St.Bonaventure, agency: Interperformances) answered with 19 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import point guard Benjamin Smith (178-87, college: Jacksonville) added 14 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Orchesien BC. Gries/Oberhoffen moved-up to tenth place, which they share with St Vallier and Chartres. Orchesien BC at the other side keeps the fifth position with 14 games lost. Gries/Oberhoffen's next round opponent will be Lorient (#13) on the road. Orchesien BC will play against GET Vosges (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
