Regular Season Round 33: Angers BC - Souffel 81-84

Date: April 15, 2017
Fifteenth-ranked Angers BC (13-20) gave a tough game to third ranked Souffelweyersheim (22-11) on Saturday. The visitors from Souffelweyersheim managed to secure only three-point victory 84-81. However their fans expected much easier game. Strangely Angers BC outrebounded Souffelweyersheim 93-76 including a 51-38 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Souffelweyersheim made 23 blocks. The best player for the winners was American point guard Fabyon Harris (180-91, college: Texas A&M) who scored 20 points and 4 assists. Valentin Correia (192-93) chipped in 14 points and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Lithuanian forward Rokas Uzas (202-88) who recorded 17 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and point guard Hugo Suhard (184-92) added 17 points and 7 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Angers BC's coach Vincent Lavandier tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Souffelweyersheim have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain third place with 22-11 record having four points less than leader Caen. Loser Angers BC keeps the fifteenth position with 20 games lost. They share it with Vitre. Souffelweyersheim will meet at home ALS Basket (#9) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Angers BC will play against the league's leader Caen (#1) and hope to secure a win.
