Regular Season Round 32: Melilla - Gipuzkoa GBC 76-78

Sixth-ranked Melilla Baloncesto (18-14) gave a tough game to first ranked Gipuzkoa (23-9) on Sunday. The visitors from San Sebastian managed to secure only two-point victory 78-76. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Worth to mention a great performance of Bulgarian forward Aleks Simeonov (200-93) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and point guard Ricardo Uriz (188-80) who added 16 points and 4 assists during the contest. Point guard Jorge Sanz (188-93) responded with 9 points and 9 assists and American-French guard Alfredo Ott (190-83, college: Dillard) scored 15 points and 5 rebounds. Melilla Baloncesto's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Gipuzkoa have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 23-9 record. Melilla Baloncesto at the other side dropped to the seventh place with 14 games lost. They share the position with Ourense. Gipuzkoa are looking forward to face Leyma Basquet (#6) in Coruna in the next round where they are favorite. Melilla Baloncesto will play at home against Magia Huesca and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
