Rather expected game when 4th ranked Gaiteros (6-12) lost to second ranked Trotamundos (13-9) in Maracaibo 61-68 on Wednesday. Trotamundos forced 21 Gaiteros turnovers. It was a good game for American forward Ricardo Powell (199-83, college: S.Carolina) who led his team to a victory with 22 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international forward Anthony Perez (206-93, college: Mississippi) contributed with 16 points for the winners. American forward Al Thornton (203-83, college: Florida St.) replied with 23 points and 8 rebounds and the former international forward Hernan Salcedo (198-80) added 4 points and 17 rebounds in the effort for Gaiteros. Trotamundos used an opportunity after Guaiqueries lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position. Gaiteros lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with 12 games lost. Trotamundos will face Guaros (#3) in Barquisimeto in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Gaiteros will play on the road against Panteras in Caracas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
