Regular Season Round 12: Guaros - Guaiqueries 86-75

There was a minor upset when top-ranked Guaiqueries (13-9) lost to third ranked Guaros (12-8) in Barquisimeto 75-86 on Wednesday. Guaros had a 33-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a good game for international power forward Luis Bethelmy (200-86) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. International Nestor Colmenares (203-87, college: Campbellsville, agency: Pro Sports) contributed with 18 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. The former international guard Michael Flores (192-85) replied with 18 points and 5 rebounds and the former international swingman Cesar Silva (190-81) added 12 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals in the effort for Guaiqueries. Five Guaros and four Guaiqueries players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains third position with 12-8 record having eight points less than leader Guaiqueries. Loser Guaiqueries still keep top place with nine games lost. Guaros will face league's second-placed Trotamundos in Valencia in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Guaiqueries will play at home against Marinos and hope to win that game.
