Regular Season Round 12: Bucaneros - Toros 83-94

Very important is a home loss of second ranked Bucaneros (12-9) against fifth ranked Toros (6-13) on Thursday night. Host Bucaneros were defeated by Toros in La Guaira 94-83. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Bucaneros. Toros made 21-of-22 free shots (95.5 percent) during the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Toros made 7 blocks. It was a good game for American-Peruvian point guard Kyle Fuller (185-92, college: Vanderbilt) who led his team to a victory with 31 points and 5 rebounds (went 12 for 12 at the free throw line !!!). Dominican guard Kelvin Pena (193-80, college: Southeastern CC, agency: Basket Management Solutions) contributed with 21 points for the winners. Four Toros players scored in double figures. American swingman Jordan Hamilton (201-90, college: Texas) replied with 22 points and 6 rebounds and international center Windi Graterol (204-86, agency: Pro Sports) added 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 blocks in the effort for Bucaneros. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Toros maintains fifth position with 6-13 record. Loser Bucaneros keep the second place with nine games lost. Toros will face league's leader Cocodrilos in Caracas in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Bucaneros will play on the road against Gigantes in Puerto Ordaz and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
