Regular Season Round 12: Panteras - Cocodrilos 88-90

Fifth-ranked Panteras (5-17) used its home court advantage to challenge first ranked Cocodrilos (18-4) in Caracas. The visitors managed to secure only two-point victory 90-88. However their fans expected much easier game. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward John Flowers (200-89, college: W.Virginia) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 26 points and 12 rebounds and forward Kelvin Caraballo (195-88) who added 15 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) during the contest. Cocodrilos' coach Nestor Salazar allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The best for the losing side was American Trey Gilder (206-85, college: Northwestern St.) with 25 points and the former international power forward Luis Julio (201-80) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Cocodrilos have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 18-4 record. Panteras lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with 17 games lost. Cocodrilos will play against Toros (#5) in Maracay in the next round. Panteras will play at home against Gaiteros and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
