Regular Season Round 27: Kutaisi - Mgzavrebi 87-72

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Kutaisi (19-7) beat at home bottom-ranked Mgzavrebi (9-18) 87-72 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Kutaisi. Mgzavrebi managed to win second period 27-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Mgzavrebi to just 7 points in first quarter. Kutaisi forced 24 Mgzavrebi turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was an exceptional evening for international point guard Giorgi Tsintsadze (192-86) who led the winners and scored 11 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Serbian center Dragan Tubak (216-87, agency: HMS) accounted for 12 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. Five Kutaisi players scored in double figures. Kutaisi's coach Kote Tugushi used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American point guard Corey Allen (185-92, college: S.Florida) came up with 26 points and 5 rebounds and the former international point guard Otar Pkhakadze (188-93, college: Simpson, CA) added 9 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals respectively for Mgzavrebi in the defeat. Defending champion maintains second place with 19-7 record having six points less than leader Dinamo Tbilisi. Loser Mgzavrebi stay at the bottom position with 18 games lost. They share it with Batumi. Kutaisi will meet league's leader Dinamo Tbilisi on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Mgzavrebi's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena Sokhumi.
