Regular Season Round 30: Sevilla - Valencia 85-90

There was no surprise when 16th ranked Sevilla (8-20) was defeated at home by second ranked Valencia Basket (21-7) 90-85 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 90-85. Valencia Basket made 26-of-28 free shots (92.9 percent) during the game. 26 personal fouls committed by Sevilla helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. French point guard Antoine Diot (193-89) scored 15 points (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) to lead the charge for the winners and Montenegrin Bojan Dubljevic (205-91, agency: BeoBasket) chipped in 7 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American guard Trent Lockett (196-90, college: Marquette) with 8 points and 6 rebounds and Serbian forward Strahinja Milosevic (203-85) scored 13 points. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Valencia Basket keeps a position of league leader. Sevilla lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the sixteenth place with 20 games lost. Valencia Basket are looking forward to face Blusens Monbus (#14) in Santoago de Comp in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Sevilla will play at home against FC Barcelona and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
