Regular Season Round 30: Obradoiro - UCAM Murcia 78-86

Rather expected game in Santoago de Comp where 13th ranked Blusens Monbus (9-18) was defeated by eleventh ranked UCAM Murcia (12-16) 86-78 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 86-78. UCAM Murcia shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 57.1 percentage. American point guard Billy Baron (187-90, college: Canisius) scored 30 points (perfect from downtown making all six shots !!!) to lead the charge for the winners and Argentinian point guard Facundo Campazzo (181-91) chipped in 17 points and 8 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was American center Shayne Whittington (209-91, college: W.Michigan) with 22 points and 5 rebounds and his fellow American import point guard Mickey McConnell (182-89, college: St.Mary's, CA) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. UCAM Murcia moved-up to tenth place. Blusens Monbus at the other side dropped to the fourteenth position with 18 games lost. UCAM Murcia are looking forward to face Zaragoza (#15) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Blusens Monbus will play against the league's leader Valencia Basket where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
