Regular Season Round 57: Yokohama BC - Niigata Albirex 81-73

There was a minor upset when 4th placed Niigata Albirex (24-31) lost on the road to sixth ranked Yokohama BC (16-39) 81-73 on Sunday. Yokohama BC outrebounded Niigata Albirex 41-27 including 28 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for the former international guard Takuya Kawamura (193-86) who led his team to a victory with 23 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. International center Pape Faye (200-87) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Five Yokohama BC players scored in double figures. American power forward Clint Chapman (208-89, college: Texas, agency: Babcock Sports) answered with 19 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import forward Stephan Van-Treese (206-90, college: Louisville, agency: Inception Sports) added 19 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) in the effort for Niigata Albirex. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Yokohama BC moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Toyama Grouses and Shiga L-Stars. Loser Niigata Albirex keeps the fourth position with 31 games lost. Yokohama BC will face league's leader Toshiba Thunders in Kanagawa in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Niigata Albirex will play at home against the league's second-placed Sanen Neophoenix and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
