Regular Season Round 29: Roanne - Maurienne 79-76

Rather expected game when 15th ranked Aix-Maurienne (11-18) was edged on the road by thirteenth ranked Chorale de Roanne (13-16) 79-76 on Tuesday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 25-15. But Aix-Maurienne won third quarter 23-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Chorale de Roanne won last quarter 22-20. American guard Roberto Nelson (190-91, college: Oregon St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 13 points and 5 assists. Point guard Arthur Rozenfeld (178-95) contributed with 14 points for the winners. Chorale de Roanne's coach Laurent Pluvy used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Gambian forward Moses Sonko (196-83, college: Co.Carolina, agency: HMS) answered with 23 points and 7 rebounds and naturalized Algerian Karim Atamna (196-80) added 12 points in the effort for Aix-Maurienne. Five Chorale de Roanne and four Aix-Maurienne players scored in double figures. Chorale de Roanne maintains thirteenth place with 13-16 record. Loser Aix-Maurienne keeps the fifteenth position with 18 games lost. Chorale de Roanne will face higher ranked Lille Metropole (#6) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Aix-Maurienne will play against JA Vichy (#18) and hope to win that game.
