Regular Season Round 8: Blumenau - Brusque 101-70

There was no surprise when 6th ranked Brusque (1-13) was crushed on the road by fourth ranked Blumenau (6-7) 101-70 on Saturday. Blumenau dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Brusque's 34 and made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. Blumenau forced 19 Brusque turnovers. The best player for the winners was American Tarvin Gaines (198-91, college: Jacksonville St.) who scored 19 points and 5 rebounds. Luiz Semmke (197-92) chipped in 15 points and 5 assists. Emilio Otte (201-97) produced 17 points and 6 rebounds and swingman Durval Prado (200-92) added 8 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Blumenau maintains fourth position with 6-7 record. Brusque lost twelfth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 13 games lost. Blumenau will face Santos/Macapa (#5) in the next round. Brusque will play against Joinville and hope to win that game.
