The game between closely ranked teams ended with first ranked Guaiqueries' (16-10) road victory over second-ranked Bucaneros (13-12) 64-56 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 35-26 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was American forward Marcus Melvin (206-82, college: N.Carolina St.) who had a double-double by scoring 12 points and 14 rebounds. The other American import guard Devan Downey (175-87, college: S.Carolina, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds. American swingman Jordan Hamilton (201-90, college: Texas) produced 14 points and 8 rebounds and the former international point guard Carlos Cedeno (193-85, college: Frank Phillips JC) added 11 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Guaiqueries have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 16-10 record, which they share with Trotamundos. Loser Bucaneros keep the second place with 12 games lost. Guaiqueries will face league's leader Cocodrilos in Caracas in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week.
