Regular Season Round 14: Marinos - Trotamundos 85-78

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Trotamundos (16-10) against fourth ranked Marinos (10-12) on Saturday night. Visiting Trotamundos were defeated by Marinos in a tough game in Puerto La Cruz 78-85. Marinos made 22-of-22 free shots (100 percent !!!) during the game. Marinos outrebounded Trotamundos 40-28 including a 32-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. American point guard Isaiah Swann (188-85, college: Florida St.) scored 18 points and 6 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) to lead the charge for the winners and the former international guard Jesus Centeno (190-85) chipped in 13 points and 6 assists during the contest. The former international forward Anthony Perez (206-93, college: Mississippi) responded with 23 points and the former international point guard David Cubillan (181-87, college: Marquette, agency: Pro Sports) scored 12 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Marinos have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 10-12 record. Loser Trotamundos still keep top place with ten games lost. They share the position with Guaiqueries. Marinos will meet higher ranked Guaros (#3) in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Trotamundos will play against the league's second-placed Bucaneros and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
