Pinheiros held off Flamengo to stay alive in the series. Pinheiros made 22-of-27 free shots (81.5 percent) during the game. Pinheiros outrebounded Flamengo 42-24 including 27 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. 26 personal fouls committed by Flamengo helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Desmond Holloway (191-90, college: Co.Carolina) who helped to win the game recording 32 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. The other American import guard Cordero Bennett (188-88) contributed with 22 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. The former international Marquinhos Vieira (207-84) replied with 24 points and 5 rebounds and the former international point guard Ricardo Fischer (185-91) added 10 points and 8 assists in the effort for Flamengo. Four Pinheiros and five Flamengo players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game.
