Regular Season Round 15: Guaros - Marinos 88-85

Fourth-ranked Marinos (10-14) were very close to win a game against third ranked Guaros (16-10) in Barquisimeto on Thursday. Guaros managed to secure only three-point victory 88-85. However their fans expected easier game. It was an exceptional evening for international center Gregory Echenique (206-90, college: Creighton, agency: Pensack Sports) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 16 rebounds. American Lazar Hayward (225-86, college: Marquette) accounted for 16 points for the winning side. Four Guaros players scored in double figures. American point guard Isaiah Swann (188-85, college: Florida St.) came up with 27 points and 5 assists and the former international Michael Carrera (196-93, college: S.Carolina) added 25 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Marinos in the defeat. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Guaros. Defending champion maintains third place with 16-10 record having seven points less than leader Guaiqueries. Marinos lost their third game in a row. They keep the fourth position with 14 games lost. Guaros will meet league's second-placed Bucaneros in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Marinos will play against Gaiteros and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
