Regular Season Round 31: Hapoel J-M - Hapoel T-A 93-80

Very expected game when 10th ranked Hapoel Tel-Aviv (13-18) was defeated on the road by sixth ranked Hapoel Jerusalem (17-14) 93-80. It looked good early as Hapoel Tel-Aviv took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Hapoel Jerusalem had a 27-21 second period charge getting the lead and Hapoel Tel-Aviv was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 80-93. They outrebounded Hapoel Tel-Aviv 39-28 including 25 on the defensive glass. Hapoel Jerusalem players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Tarence Kinsey (202-84, college: S.Carolina) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds. Naturalized American power forward Richard Howell (203-90, college: N.Carolina St.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. American point guard Mark Lyons (185-89, college: Arizona, agency: Higher Vision Sports) answered with 21 points and 7 assists and international Tomer Ginat (202-94, agency: Avi Zilberman) added 16 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Hapoel Tel-Aviv. Four Hapoel Tel-Aviv players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Hapoel Jerusalem moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Bnei Hertzeliyya and Ironi Nahariya. Hapoel Tel-Aviv lost their sixth game in a row. They keep the tenth position with 18 games lost. Hapoel Jerusalem's next round opponent will be Maccabi Haifa (#8) at home. Hapoel Tel-Aviv will play against Maccabi Ashdod and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
