Regular Season Round 16: Panteras - Guaiqueries 84-76

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Guaiqueries (19-11) in Caracas on Tuesday night. Visitors were defeated by fifth ranked Panteras (9-19) 84-76. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Guaiqueries. The hosts trailed by 9 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 84-76. Worth to mention a great performance of American Trey Gilder (206-85, college: Northwestern St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 26 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists and swingman Elvis Burguillos (192-82) who added 12 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Four Panteras players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard Devan Downey (175-87, college: S.Carolina, agency: Octagon Europe) responded with 34 points (!!!) (made all of his seven free throws) and his fellow American import center Kentrell Gransberry (206-85, college: S.Florida) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 16 rebounds. Guaiqueries' coach Oscar Silva rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Panteras maintains fifth position with 9-19 record. Guaiqueries at the other side still keep top place with 11 games lost. Panteras are looking forward to face higher ranked Trotamundos (#3) in Valencia in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Guaiqueries will play at home against Toros and are hoping to win this game.
