Not a big story in a game in Puerto Ordaz where 5th ranked Gaiteros (7-19) were defeated by third ranked Gigantes (15-17) 83-65 on Friday. The best player for the winners was American Quinnel Brown (198-83, college: Auburn) who scored 21 points and 8 rebounds. The former international forward Axiers Sucre (199-78) chipped in 7 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Gigantes players scored in double figures. Naturalized Colombian guard Douglas Chiquito (193-86) produced 19 points and British V.Islands power forward Lester Prosper (208-88, college: Old Westbury, agency: Interperformances) added 6 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Gigantes maintains third place with 15-17 record having eight points less than leader Guaiqueries. Gaiteros lost their third game in a row. They keep the fifth position with 19 games lost. Gigantes will face league's leader Guaiqueries in Porlamar in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Gaiteros will play on the road against the league's second-placed Guaros (#2) in Barquisimeto and hope to win that game.
