Regular Season Round 33: Evreux - Vichy Clermont 86-81
Date: May 12, 2017
There was no surprise when 14th ranked JA Vichy (13-20) was defeated on the road by tenth ranked ALM Evreux (17-16) 86-81. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. It looked good early as JA Vichy took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then ALM Evreux had a 19-15 second period charge getting the lead and JA Vichy was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 81-86. ALM Evreux made 24-of-29 charity shots (82.8 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 JA Vichy turnovers. 25 personal fouls committed by JA Vichy helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for American point guard Corin Henry (178-88, college: Tarleton St., agency: Octagon Europe) who led his team to a victory with 23 points and 6 assists. His fellow American import guard Caleb Walker (194-89, college: Nebraska) contributed with 13 points for the winners. ALM Evreux's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Power forward Charles-Henri Bronchard (200-82, agency: Court Side) answered with 21 points and 9 rebounds and American point guard Dustin Ware (183-90, college: Georgia) added 27 points and 4 assists in the effort for JA Vichy. Four JA Vichy players scored in double figures. ALM Evreux moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 4 other teams. JA Vichy at the other side keeps the fourteenth position with 20 games lost. ALM Evreux's next round opponent will be higher ranked Boulazac Basket (#4) on the road and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. JA Vichy will play against ADA Blois (#7) and hope to win that game.
