An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Porlamar. First ranked Guaiqueries faced 4th placed Toros. Host Guaiqueries (20-12) defeated guests from Maracay (11-18) 90-85. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Toros. The best player for the winners was American forward Marcus Melvin (206-82, college: N.Carolina St.) who scored 29 points and 6 rebounds. The former international swingman Cesar Silva (190-81) chipped in 15 points and 9 rebounds. Four Guaiqueries players scored in double figures. Guaiqueries' coach Oscar Silva allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American-Peruvian point guard Kyle Fuller (185-92, college: Vanderbilt) produced 23 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists and Dominican forward Juan Guerrero (201-93) added 22 points and 5 blocks respectively for the guests. Guaiqueries maintains first place with 20-12 record. Loser Toros keep the fourth position with 18 games lost. Guaiqueries will face Gigantes (#3) in Puerto Ordaz in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Toros will play on the road against Marinos in Puerto La Cruz and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
