Tenth-ranked Aguilas Doradas de Durango (9-19) made lots of trouble for fifth ranked Frayles de Guasave (15-14) on Friday. Frayles de Guasave managed to secure only three-point victory 103-100. However their fans expected much easier game. Frayles de Guasave outrebounded Aguilas Doradas de Durango 37-26 including 29 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American forward Sammy Yeager (193-89, college: CS Fullerton) scored 30 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import forward Travis Franklin (200-88, college: Colorado St.) chipped in 23 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was naturalized American guard Martin Samarco (190-85, college: Bowling Green) with 30 points and 6 rebounds and American guard Ronnie Battle (185, college: Chattahoochee V.) scored 22 points and 6 assists. Five Frayles de Guasave and four Aguilas Doradas de Durango players scored in double figures. Aguilas Doradas de Durango's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Frayles de Guasave moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Guaymas. Newly promoted Aguilas Doradas de Durango stay at the bottom position with 19 games lost. Frayles de Guasave will again meet at home bottom-ranked Aguilas Doradas de Durango (#10) in the next round where they are favorite. Aguilas Doradas de Durango will have a break next round.
