Regular Season Round 4: Puente Alto - Sportiva Italiana 72-51

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Sportiva Italiana (3-1) on the court of top-ranked Puente Alto on Saturday night. Visitors were rolled over by Puente Alto 72-51. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Sportiva Italiana. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Puente Alto. Sportiva Italiana managed to win third quarter 17-7. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Sportiva Italiana to just 5 points in first quarter and to 13 points in first half. Puente Alto dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Sportiva Italiana's 18. At the losing side Francoise Diaz (-87) responded with 12 points and 7 rebounds and Gaspar Hernandez (-99) scored 12 points and 4 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Puente Alto have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 4-0 record. Sportiva Italiana at the other side keeps the second place with one game lost. They share the position with Liceo Curico and Brisas. Puente Alto are looking forward to face Arturo Prat (#5) in San Felipe in the next round. Sportiva Italiana will play against Brisas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
