Regular Season Round 21: Marinos - Panteras 92-71

Date: May 28, 2017
Rather expected game when 5th ranked Panteras (10-16) were smashed by third ranked Marinos (13-13) in Puerto La Cruz 92-71 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 92-71. Marinos dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Panteras' 38. It was a good game for American point guard Isaiah Swann (188-85, college: Florida St.) who led his team to a victory with 25 points and 4 assists. His fellow American import power forward Christophe Massie (206-77, college: Memphis) contributed with 8 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. American Trey Gilder (206-85, college: Northwestern St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds and swingman Morris Sierralta (190-87) added 15 points in the effort for Panteras. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Marinos. They moved-up to second place. Loser Panteras keep the fifth position with 16 games lost.
