Bottom-ranked Patriotas managed to get a second victory, breaking the four-game losing streak on Wednesday night. This time they won against sixth-ranked Academia in Boyaca 80-73. Patriotas made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Academia turnovers. American Karl Moore (203-87, college: Culver Stockton) scored 24 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import forward Frisco Sandidge (198-87, college: Delaware St.) chipped in 13 points and 15 rebounds during the contest. Four Patriotas players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Dominican Oscar Balbuena (195-94) with 21 points and 8 rebounds and forward Juan Fajardo (193-96) scored 16 points and 5 rebounds. Patriotas (2-4) moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Piratas. Defending champion Academia dropped to the bottom position with three games lost. Patriotas will meet at home league's second-placed Fast Break in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Academia will play against the league's leader Cimarrones (#1) and hope to win that game.
