Guaiqueries held off Gigantes for 2-0 lead. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Gigantes won fourth quarter 23-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Guaiqueries made 21-of-27 charity shots (77.8 percent) during the game. 29 personal fouls committed by Gigantes helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American guard Devan Downey (175-87, college: S.Carolina, agency: Octagon Europe) orchestrated the victory by scoring 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. The other American import forward Marcus Melvin (206-82, college: N.Carolina St.) contributed with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Five Guaiqueries players scored in double figures. The former international forward Axiers Sucre (199-78) replied with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and American center Andrew Feeley (206-83, college: UMBC) added 16 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Gigantes. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games.
