Regular Season Round 9: Aguilas - Cimarrones 79-78

The most exciting game of round 9 in the Liga DirecTV took place in Boyaca. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 3rd placed Cimarrones (4-3) to eighth ranked Patriotas (3-6) 79-78 on Saturday evening. Patriotas outrebounded Cimarrones 39-27 including 27 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. American power forward Dallis Joyner (203-90, college: Stony Brook) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and his fellow American import forward Frisco Sandidge (198-87, college: Delaware St.) chipped in 9 points, 15 rebounds and 7 assists. The best for the losing side was the former international center John Hernandez (207-84) with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 15 rebounds and American swingman Amir Carraway (198-91, college: Chico St.) scored 22 points and 4 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Patriotas moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Piratas and Condores. Cimarrones lost third consecutive game. They keep the third position with three games lost. They share it with Academia and Caciques. Patriotas is again looking forward to face higher ranked Cimarrones (#5) in Quibdo-Choco in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Cimarrones will have a break next round.
