There was a small surprise in Flinders Park where eighth ranked Woodville Warriors (5-8) won against 6th ranked Noarlunga City Southern Tigers (8-5) 90-81 on Sunday. Woodville Warriors had a 38-27 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Guard Darren Ng (189-83) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and center Daniel Carlin (206-93, college: Westmont) chipped in 19 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks. Woodville Warriors' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The former international swingman Anthony Drmic (198-92, college: Boise St.) responded with 30 points and 9 rebounds and American forward Mike Nwelue (196-93, college: Drury) scored 15 points and 8 rebounds. Four Noarlunga City Southern Tigers players scored in double figures. Woodville Warriors maintains eighth place in League with 5-8 record. Loser Noarlunga City Southern Tigers dropped to the third position with five games lost. Woodville Warriors will face higher ranked Norwood Flames (#4) in Marden in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Noarlunga City Southern Tigers will play on the road against West Adelaide Bearcats in Woodville and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
