Regular Season Round 18: Willetton T. - Kalamunda E.S. 96-91

Date: June 30, 2017
Very expected game in Willetton where 13th ranked Suns (6-17) were defeated by second ranked Tigers (17-3) 96-91 on Friday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Suns won third quarter 31-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Tigers made 28-of-36 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Suns were plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American forward Ray Turner (206-90, college: Texas A&M) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Guard Damien Scott (190-92) chipped in 20 points and 6 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Courtney Belger (187-89, college: Quincy) who recorded a double-double by scoring 22 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists and swingman Kerrod Horn (186-93) added 28 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Five Tigers and four Suns players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Tigers keep a position of League leader. Loser Suns keep the thirteenth place with 17 games lost. Tigers will face Slammers (#6) in Bunbury in the next round where they are favorite. Suns will play on the road against Hawks (#8) in Floreat and hope to win that game.
