Regular Season Round 14: Metros STGO - Indios SFM 102-88

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Santiago. First ranked Metros STGO faced second-ranked Indios SFM. Host Metros STGO (12-3) defeated guests from San Francisco (11-4) 102-88. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Indios SFM. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Metros STGO. Indios SFM was better in second period 22-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Metros STGO dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Indios SFM's 46. They outrebounded Indios SFM 45-32 including 34 on the defensive glass. Metros STGO players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Indios SFM was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American Robert Glenn (203-89, college: IUPUI) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points and 7 rebounds. The other American import Frank Gaines (191-90, college: IPFW) contributed with 20 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Five Metros STGO players scored in double figures. Naturalized American guard Gerardo Suero (196-89, college: Albany) replied with 27 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and Juan-Miguel Suero (198-93) added 19 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals in the effort for Indios SFM. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Metros STGO have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 12-3 record. Indios SFM at the other side keeps the second place with four games lost. Metros STGO will play against Reales LV (#6) in La Vega in the next round where they are favorite. Indios SFM will play at home against Reales LV (#6) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
