There was a small surprise when ninth ranked Diamond Valley Eagles (6-12) beat 9th ranked Magic (5-12) in Hawthorn 81-71 on Saturday. It was a very good performance for American forward Brandon Conley (198, college: ORU) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds. Guard Matt Reynolds (183) contributed with 21 points for the winners. Forward Alex Bogart-King (200) answered with 22 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and American swingman Joshua Morrison (198-91, college: NC-Wesleyan) added 9 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Magic. Magic's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Diamond Valley Eagles moved-up to eighth place in League. Loser Magic keeps the ninth position with 12 games lost. Diamond Valley Eagles will face higher ranked Eltham Wildcats (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Magic will play against McKinnon C. (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
