Date: July 15, 2017
The game between closely ranked teams ended with fourth ranked Condores' (12-12) home victory over 5th ranked Sabios (9-15) 98-77 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Condores. Sabios managed to win fourth quarter 24-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Sabios 47-28 including a 34-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Condores looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Sabios' players. The best player for the winners was American point guard Ryan McCoy (183-87, college: La-Lafayette, agency: Haylett Sports) who scored 27 points, 7 assists and 4 steals. Naturalized Venezuelan forward Eduardo Torres (195-81) chipped in 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Condores players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was forward John Velez (202-83, college: TCU) who recorded 24 points and 6 rebounds and Canadian guard Shamar Coombs (185-86, college: Texas A&M-CC) added 12 points and 7 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Condores have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 12-12 record. Sabios lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with 15 games lost. They share the position with Piratas. Condores will meet higher ranked Cimarrones (#3) in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Sabios will play against the league's second-placed Academia and hope to secure a win.
