Second Stage Round 4: Leones SD - Titanes Licey 103-81

An exciting game was played in Santo Domingo. First ranked Leones SD faced their biggest opponent Titanes Licey. Host Leones SD (4-2) smashed guests from San Cristobal (2-3) 103-81. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Leones SD's pressure prevailed and they won that period 30-15 extending their advantage to 22 points. They dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Titanes Licey's 34 and made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. Leones SD forced 22 Titanes Licey turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Juan Guerrero (201-93) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) and American point guard Patrick Miller (185-92, college: Tennessee St.) who added 16 points during the contest. Five Leones SD players scored in double figures. At the losing side naturalized Spanish power forward Edward Santana (203-80) responded with 29 points and 9 rebounds and American-Hungarian forward Rashad Bell (203-82, college: Boston U.) scored 18 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Leones SD have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 4-2 record. Titanes Licey lost third consecutive game. They keep the second place with three games lost. They share the position with Caneros LR. Leones SD will meet league's second-placed Caneros LR in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Titanes Licey will play against the league's second-placed Caneros LR in La Romana and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
